  • Bonnie Wald

Creating narratives and relationships between characters

Bonnie Wald is an artist who is well-versed in the world of figurative drawing. She uses this medium to create narratives and relationships between characters that put personal experience, science fiction, nature, athletics, relationships, pop culture and outer space into a blender and spins them out onto the paper in whirling, brightly colored, often circular compositions.

Hand written, descriptive commentary accompanies many of her images, giving the viewer a deeper look into her unique, hand-drawn world. Threads of humor run through Bonnie’s work and are often present in her writing. Recurring characters include a hippie and her boyfriend, athletes, a woman and her baby, Princess Leia, and an especially hilarious series of animals wearing human makeup.

Bonnie is an artist with the admirable ability to channel and express her expansive imagination through her drawings. And upon viewing her work, the depth and intricacy of her imagination is undeniable.
