Kristen Mägis is an author and Portland-based activist who began creating sculptures based on her city’s unique approaches to democratic and peaceful protest. Her polymer sculptures depict scenes from the people and events she has experienced while participating in Portland’s pro-democracy movement, which she then paints with acrylic. Mägis holds a Ph.D. in civil society and public policy, which creates the foundation for her work in art and activism.
